On Sunday, August 10, 2008, we went to Skyfest 2008 at Fairchild AFB. It is located on the outskirts of Spokane, off Highway 2. It was said that on the first day of the show, there were over 100,000 people in attendance!

The Golden Knights. The Army made this "official" parachute team in June, 1961 . They have been performing for 44 years.
This was the first performance of the airshow and an airwoman sang the National Anthem. It brought shivers to me, not only because it was good, it was also cool and windy!

Simulated "near miss" MiG17 and A26. They were doing a "Cold War dogfight" simulation
Raptorfied! -This is the newest fighter F-22 (the Raptor). New generation of technology that incorporates speed, radar evading stealth design and avionics. It cost $135 Million to build, but has the best equipment that money can buy inside it. It flies Mach2 at 60,000 feet (which is about 1300 mph) “Most of the general public … when they hear the word F-22, they think it’s real expensive and really secret,” Maj. Paul Mogua said, “They don’t have an idea of what this aircraft is going to do for the Air Force now, or what it’s going to do for the country for the next two or three decades.”

The announcer said the wingspan was "1/2 the length of a football field". My calculations say that would be 150 feet wide. That is HUGE!!
The show was loud, cool, fun and amazing. We all had a wonderful time!
Mike tooke a couple of video's of the F-22. Thought we would share them with you all! You might get a little dizzy from the motion, but you will get the idea of what it can do and neat it looks!! ENJOY!!
Hope you enjoyed watching these and that you didn't get as dizzy watching them as I did watching them!!
