Independence Day at Grand Coulee Dam

We went to Grand Coulee Dam, again. This time for the 4th of July. Before we left, we called the visitor center to see if the third powerhouse was open for tours and if the laser light show was working. The answer was "YES!!" Thank goodness!! We spent the day at Banks Reservoir, touring the dam and waiting for the laser show. We were told that it was best to get a parking spot early for the laser show, because they will be doing fireworks after the the laser show.
Mike and Kids at Banks ReservoirBig Rock Wall, I took this pictures looking up....Can you see me? Mike took this picture of me, taking the picture above, so you can see a comparison of how big this rock wall is.Steamboat Plateau...I want to hike this, but it was said that it was heavy duty Rattlesnake time. so we decided against it at this time
Break in the road--I thought this looked pretty coolInside the glass elevator-looking down the pylon
Inside the powerhouse, these are some generators-they look small, but they are not!!

This truck is filled with fireworks for after the laser show. The show was not as big as the firework show that we are used to at Castlerock Park in Billings. It only lasted about 20 minutesFestival on the greens-there were a lot of people there, more than the whole town!! They had a live band playing, face painting, henna tattoos, elephant ears, Indian tacos...Huckleberry ice cream-yum, yum!! First time I tried it!! I loved it!
Caite took this picture of the sun shining on the hill on the other side of the river. Very pretty!!
Caite also took this picture of the power line...I like it....I think she has a good eye...Maybe we have another photographer in the family!!!

Well, this trip to Grand Coulee Dam was more of a success. We did not get any good pictures of the laser show. The kids loved the show and the fireworks......Maybe a new tradition????

Hope everybody had a wonderful and safe 4th of July!!
