What A Weekend!!

I think I need a day off to recuperate from everything that we did this weekend. Seems like sometimes, we just keep going and going and going....BUT we had a very fun weekend. It started out with Mike going to the river on Friday with Julie and Tae and the kids, Zach, Dylan, Sydney and Tae's nephew, Riley. They had loads of fun and Mike took a lot of pictures, but here are a few.

On Saturday, we met my nephews, Kaine and Gage in Post Falls. Their Grammy Carolyn, was bringing them to meet their mom, Sarah. They had spent most of the summer in Montana with them and with my family. It was very nice to spend some time with Kaine and Gage. So...while in Idaho, we went to Kootenai County Fairgrounds for "snowmobile grass races". It was so REDNECK!! I cannot believe we went, but it was pretty neat, I think the boys liked it. Here are some pictures of the races. This little girl is like 5 years old Here she comes, she didn't win, but everyone was cheering her on!!
Check out the dust
They also had a vintage snowmobile show. This snowmobile has been clocked at doing about 169 mph"This is older than you auntie!!
After we left Coure d' Alene, we went to Jim and Janice's house to show the boys the alpaca's, including the new baby!!

Here is Auntie Terri and Kaine-He is taller than I am!! I think Eddie and Sarah are feeding the boys Miracle Grow!!Gage doing skateboarding tricks, waiting for Sarah
I Love You Gage!!!
Trying on his new sweater.Kaine getting ready to show some skateboarding tricks
I love you Kaine!

"Auntie, your squeezing my guts out!!!!" My sweet Baboo....I told my mom I would give him tons of love, hugs and kisses if I saw him. AND I DID!!! I love the look on his face!

Gage (10), Sarah, Kaine (12) and Jaeger (7) I hate to brag, but I think they are some good-looking boys!!...Sarah and Eddie are going to have fun keeping the girls away from these three!!Jaeger showing us the hood of his jacket. Ooooooh, scary. But you can tell he is smiling by his eyes!!!
Love the hair!! I think he looks just like his Daddy!! Love you Baboo!!
Did you lose a tooth? "yep, in my sleep!"
On Sunday, we rode up to Ione, Washington. It is about 82.4 miles north of Spokane. We went with the "WHOLE SCHLICHT FAMILY". Jim and Janice, Dave, Tae and Sydney, Julie, Jay, Zach and Dylan, and Mike and myself. The Lions Club has a train ride the last weekend of the month up to Metaline Falls. The ride is about 1 1/2 hours long, round trip. The Lions Club runs the train twice on Saturday and Sundays on the weekends that they run. The track follows the Pend Oreille River. We go through 2 tunnels and across a couple of trestles. The only people who had been on a train before this trip was Jim and I. Jim rode the electric train to Canada and while in Canada had to switch to a steam engine-that was when he was a very young boy. I rode the train from Wolf Point to Glasgow with Head Start when I was little and with Mom and JD to Minneapolis to see Uncle Chuck, boy that was a LONG time ago.
This is the engine as it is coming in from the previous trip.
The boxcars that we rode in-lovely Lion's Club Color---Yellow and Royal Blue
The Brothers' triplets!! They were wearing matching clothes.

Janice, Julie and Mike
Sydney and Dave
What a smile!
A view from the window
Box Canyon Dam. The trestle that we are on was completed in 1910, the dam was constructed between 1942-1955
View straight down the trestle. Believe it or not, Mike took this picture without freaking out!
Dylan and Zach checking out the scenery
A side view of the trestle from inside the train
The entrance to the Vail Tunnel. It is 817 feet long.

We are only a few miles from the Canadian Border, how far? I really couldn't tell you.
"Just around the river bend...."
This is the Inland Portland Cement Plant. It was constructed in 1910The engine is turning around for us
What?? Who's wanted!

Oh my gosh! It's THEM! If we catch them do we get a reward? We had Sheriff Dylan with us, but they got away!! These robbers are from a Drama Club out of Metaline Falls. This is part of a fundraiser for their club. This is part of their fundraising to remodel their theatre.
Mike was giving this poor kid some grief, trying to make him work for his money.

Think they need a dental plan?

Off we go, a few dollars short
posing on the tracks
Group picture!! One of the "lioness" was kind enough to take pictures of us with all of our camera's. I think she took a good shot! From left to right--Dave, Sydney, Tae, Zach, Dylan, Jay, Julie, Jim, Janice and Mike and I are in the front on the steps.
When we got off the train we heard snowmobiles. What, again? It's summer!! It was Downriver Days in Ione, so we walked to the City Park by the river and they were having some snowmobile races ACROSS the river....OK... Now I can really say, it was a redneck weekend!! It was pretty neat. I made the comment, it would be cools to see one crash and sink...2 did, one didn't get the bobber off fast enough to locate his snowmobile afterwards!
Catching some air!
Dragging for the snowmobile. I thought you only pulled up sharks with this!!
This guy jumped off a "sand" jump. The sand was spitting everywhere!!
Check out the splash!
OK, this is a movie clip on the one guy who did an awesome job jumping from the sand jump. If you click the arrow, it should run for you to watch. Mike was having fun watching it and had sand splattered all over him! The kids name who did this jump is Kyle Konkright from Cusick. He has pictures and movies on a website called: http://www.509films.com/ CRAZY! I think people were drunk and thought "hey, why don't we drive our snowmobiles on the river and see what happens". Well.......We had a fun redneck weekend!
